Create zip file

A Zip file is a compressed archive file which may contain one or more files and folders. Usually the files in zip archive are compressed using DEFLATE algorithm. However, zip file also allows other compression algorithms. Today, Zip file is widely used to transfer or distribute files. It is the most popular archive format and is supported by lots of archive software and operating systems.

PowerISO can create, extract, edit, and covert zip archives. To create zip archive,  Please follow the steps,

Method 1: Create zip file using the shell context menu:

  • Run PowerISO. 

  • Click on the "New" button on toolbar, then select "Zip archive" from the popup menu. PowerISO will create a new empty compilation for the new zip archive.

  • Add all files needed to the compilation and make necessary modification.

Click on the "Add" button on toolbar to add files and folders. You can also directly drag files and folders from Windows Explorer to the PowerISO window.

Click the menu "Action > New Folder" to create a new folder.

Click the menu "File > Properties" to set  the zip file properties, such as password, compression level.

  • After you have made all necessary modification to the compilation, You can save the compilation to a zip file. Click on the "Save" button on toolbar, or choose the "File > Save" menu.

  • The "Save file" dialog will popup. Enter the zip file path name, and select the output format to "Zip Archives (*.zip)" format, then click "Save".

  • PowerISO will start creating zip archive. It will show the progress information during writing zip file. 

  • After the operation completes successfully, PowerISO will automatically open the new created zip archive.

 

Method 2: Create Zip Archive using the shell context menu:

  • Open "My Computer" and select the files and folders which you want to add to zip file.

  • Right-click on the files selected, the shell context menu will popup.

  • Choose the menu "Add to image file...".

  • PowerISO main program will start to run. It will automatically add all files and folders selected to the current compilation, then prompts you enter the file path name and file format.

    Enter the file path name for the zip file, and select the output format as Zip Archives, then click "OK". You can also enter a password to protect the zip archive.

  • PowerISO will start creating zip archive. It will show the progress information when writing the zip file. 

  • After the operation completes successfully, PowerISO will automatically open the new created zip archive. You can browse and view the files and folders in the zip archive.
