7z file is a compressed archive file created by 7-zip open source software. The file is created using lzma compression method usually. 7z file also supports other compression methods and strong AES encryption. 7z file is similar to other archive files, such as zip and rar, but generally has higher compression ratio.

With PowerISO, you can extract 7z file by a simple click.

Open "My Computer" and select the 7z archive which you want to extract.

Right-click on the file selected, the shell context menu will popup. Select the menu item, "Extract to <folder name>. The folder name is just the 7z file name.

The 7z extractor will start to run. It will automatically create a folder using the file name, and extract all files in the 7z file to this folder. If the 7z archive is encrypted, PowerISO will prompt you to enter the password.

After the operation completes, you can access the extracted files in destination folder.
