A Zip file is a compressed archive file which may contain one or more files and folders. Usually it uses DEFLATE algorithm to compressed files in zip file. It is the most widely used archive format and is supported by lots of archive software and operating systems.

A RAR file is an archive created by WinRAR application. It uses proprietary compression algorithm to compress data in it. RAR file is similar like ZIP file, but generally has higher compression ratio. However, if your software or device doesn't support rar archives, you need convert rar file to zip format.

To convert rar archive to zip format, please follow the steps,

Run PowerISO.
Select the menu item, "Tools --> Convert file format...".

The "Convert file format" dialog will popup. Click "Browse source file" button to select the source file for conversion.

The "Open file" dialog will popup. Select the rar file you want to convert, then click "Open" button.
Click the "Output file format" list, and select "Zip Archive" as the output format.
The default output file will be in the same folder as the source file, and have the same file name, but the suffix name will be .zip. You may specify a different path name for the output file. You may also specify a password to protect the output zip file.

Click "OK" button to start conversion.
PowerISO will start converting rar file to zip format. It will show the progress information when saving archive.

After the rar file has been converted to zip file successfully, you should get the message "Converting file completed successfully".
